Position - Underwriting Team Leader Company description Our client a leading mortgage packaging company specialising in the processing of non-conforming mortgages based in the centre of London near Liverpool Street tube station. Core proposition centres around the principal system which allows mortgage brokers to source non-conforming deals online with both speed and accuracy.
Role · Manage a team of Underwriters and Completions Officers to maximise productivity and quality of service. · Quality check new business submissions ensuring the deals pass our strict reality checks. · Allocate workloads and ensure that the team works within specified service standards. · Ensure that cases are always presented fully and well packaged prior to being submitted to a lender. · Quality check work from the team and implement any training needs. · Provide support to members of the team in respect of knowledge and underwriting assistance. · Manage lender product withdrawals. · Mediate with clients, brokers, lenders, valuers and solicitors when team members are unable to obtain satisfactory solutions to problems. · Look after our VIP Brokers and manage the Satellite Packaging side of the business. · Conduct reviews and appraisals of team members. · Provide management information and reports. · Ensure the team’s product knowledge is current and up-to-date. · Keep abreast of changes within the financial sector. · Build relationships with key packaged lenders · Cover the role of Head Of Underwriting in her absence Skills / attributes required · Possess an understanding of the complete mortgage market. · Understand the importance of acting within legal and regulatory boundaries. · Prepared to challenge lenders, valuers and solicitors when necessary. · Capable of dealing with problem cases and providing solutions. · Understand the importance of customer service and be able to convey this to a team. · Possess a willing and ‘can do’ attitude. · Able to motivate oneself and others. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. · Computer literate. · Persuasive. · Able to work under pressure and within time scales. · Organized. · Confident in providing development to a team. · Ability to manage a team effectively.
